Cohousing is housing designed to foster community and cooperation while preserving independence. Private residences are clustered near shared facilities. The members design and manage all aspects of their community.

Oak Park Village is a proposed cohousing community of 20-30 households in Rochester,MN that is currently seeking land.

The Pittsburg Dinner Coop served partly as a model of the Dinner Coop that was organized in the Minneapolis Seward and Longfellow neighborhood by cohousing wannabees in Jan 1996; it is no longer functioning.
One of the early periodicals in the US to publish information about cohousing was Minnwapolis' own Utne reader. Utne continues to do inovative things to build community including online where they have their Utne Cafe which uses Motet discussion software.
